Meet Damon<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Damon was enrolled as a “Transition Student” at his high school and was challenged when learning new things, easily frustrated and not very outgoing when we first met him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He was introduced to Able-IT through his job coach and work coordinator at his high school in 2023, after another company had asked him not to come back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Damon was introduced to the “Able-IT” approach to learning at an entry level training to help him learn quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Damon accomplished tasks with great speed and proficiency within the first few weeks, these were tasks that had taken others months to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He was then moved from recycling tasks to computer technician training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Damon was learning and retaining information as fast we could teach him. He used problem solving skills to diagnose and repair issues with servers, this is something that seemed to come naturally for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not only did we see a difference in his computer technician skills, but have seen a difference in him as a person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Damon that used to keep to himself most of the time and not talk to anyone, is now cracking jokes and exchanging sarcastic comments with his co-workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We truly believe the pride in advanced job skills has given Damon the confidence to enjoy his work and carry that confidence outside of his work environment. He now has a group of friends that he uses his paid vacation days to travel with!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Damon was hired Full-Time and has been working for 2 years as a computer technician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Christensen was Damon’s 4th grade teacher is now the head of IT for the school district that Damon attended. He toured Able-IT one day and spotted Damon working away on a stack of computer servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is their exchange:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Christensen:<\/strong> Hi Damon, do you remember me?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Damon: <\/strong>Yep, you are Mr. Christensen, my 4th grade teacher<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Christensen:<\/strong> How do you like working here?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Damon:<\/strong> This is the favorite part of my day.
